History of Lacrosse in Brockville
THE EARLY YEARS

Lacrosse first played in Brockville
in 1883, played in a tournament between Cornwall, Kingston, Iroquois,
Aultsville and Montreal

League was then formed in 1887 with
teams from Brockville, Cornwall, Montreal and Ottawa

The most accomplished team in the
early years was the 1930 Brockville Gutta Percha Tires, named
-
Admission to the first professional
in Brockville was 35 cents, Brockville won it 8-4 over Morrisburg

They finished their first year with
8 wins, 2 ties and no losses

The team went on to roll thru the
playoffs and win the league in their first year

The next year they changed their
name to the Pirates and went on to the League championship only to lose to
Cornwall in the finals

Dwindling attendance forced the
league to fold before the start of the next season
